A Naturally Situated Adaptive Re-Use Resort in Ucluelet BC

I grew up in a small town situated in one of the most beautiful parts of the world. When it came to my final project, I looked to tourism, the shifting economy, the site and the history of the fishing industry for inspiration.

I proposed an adaptive re-use of a fish processing plant consisting of several buildings along the inlet of Ucluelet B.C. into a naturally situated resort with spa. It would employ local residents and be respectful of the natural context.

The resort would encourage economic development for the region after the loss of resourced based economies of fishing and logging, and address the trend of eco-tourism, offering the guest a "truly regional experience."

Program Requirements have been written for this project.
